Questions, answered
How checks work, what credits are and what happens to your files.
What is email verification?
Email verification checks whether an address can receive mail before you send to it. Mailcut tests the format, the domain, its mail servers and, where possible, the mailbox itself, so you can remove addresses that would bounce.
How does Mailcut check an address without sending an email?
Mailcut connects to the receiving mail server and asks whether the mailbox exists, then ends the conversation before any message is sent. The person you check never receives anything.
How do credits work?
You buy credits in packs and every verified address uses one credit. A repeated address in the same file is counted once. Credits are valid for 12 months from the day you buy them, and the ones that expire first are used first.
Is there a subscription?
No. Nothing renews by itself and there is no monthly fee. You buy a pack when you need it and use it within 12 months.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. You can check a single address on the home page without signing up, and every new account starts with free welcome credits so you can test single checks and a small list.
Which file types can I upload?
CSV, TXT and Excel files (.xlsx and .xls). If a file has several columns, Mailcut finds the one that holds the email addresses. A single upload can contain up to 20,000 addresses.
What do the results mean?
Valid: the mailbox exists. Invalid: it does not and will bounce. Accept-all: the domain accepts every address, so the mailbox cannot be confirmed. Disposable: a throwaway address. Unknown: the server did not answer; try again later.
How long are my files kept?
Uploaded lists, result files and the bulk itself are removed from your panel 14 days after they are created, so download your report within that time. Your credit history stays in your account.
Is there an API?
Yes. Create a key in your account and call the verify endpoint with a bearer token. It returns the result, the reason, flags for disposable and role addresses, a typo suggestion and your remaining credits. Each call uses one credit.
Do you send emails to the addresses I check?
No. The check ends before any message is sent. We also do not sell or share your lists; they are used only to build your result.
What if a result turns out to be wrong?
No verifier can be right for every address, because some servers hide whether a mailbox exists. Mailcut marks those cases as accept-all or unknown instead of guessing. After a bulk finishes you can re-check the unknown results once at no cost, and you can write to us about a specific address.
How do I pay and can I get an invoice?
Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record, which collects applicable taxes and sends your receipt by email. Write to us if you need your company details on the invoice.
